摘要:Returns to education do not come as a predictable single-valued higher wage rate, but as access to a different distribution of wages: higher mean but also different values for variance and skew. In this lecture, I will present an overview of my recent empirical work on the implications of the uncertainty of returns to education: how wage growth is related to risk attitude, how the labour market compensates for earnings risk, how employer shift risk back to starting workers, how to measure risk attitude and how students respond to perceived risk. On risk attitude measurement and on student response, I will present results based on empirical analysis of Chinese data, as joint work with PKU co-authors
