Do Students Expect Compensation for Wage Risk? (Joop Hartog教授)

  Speaker:  Professor Joop Hartog 

  Prof. Joop Hartog (1946– ) has been a professor of economics at the University of Amsterdam since 1981. His research interests include Labour Economics and Economics of Education. His focuses on wage structures, the relevance of education and personality variables for allocation and earnings, and migration issues. He has also studied the relation between institutions in the labour market and economic performance. His present research concentrates on aspects of risk associated with investment in human capital. 

  As a distinguished economist, Prof. Hartog published more than 160 articles in national and international journals, such as Kyklos, Review of Income and Wealth, Economic Journal, Empirical Economics, and Journal of Population Economics. He (co)-authored and edited 8 books. He was co-founder and joint first Editor of Labour Economics. He held visiting positions at many foreign institutions, such as Stanford, Cornell, The World Bank, PKU et al. In 1992, he was elected to the Holland Society of Sciences, in 2001 to the Royal Dutch Academy of Sciences.
